​2023 was a difficult year for many but we’re sure that like us, you’re hoping for a much brighter 2024. What if we told you that right now is the perfect time to seize the job of your dreams?

Last year, you may have seen some changes to the job you know and love. The unexpected onset of Covid-19 saw many differences for veterinary professionals, from consulting outdoors to staffing issues and even backlogs of routine work.

There is a shortage of experienced veterinary surgeons and some great jobs are appearing. Although, they are being snapped up quickly, so you’ll want to act fast to avoid missing out on your perfect job!

Here are our top tips to finding the vet job of your dreams:

  1. Be clear on exactly what you want regarding hours, OOH, support, clinical development, rota and location. Are you looking for Independent or Corporate? Sole charge or hospital? Think carefully about what you want and your future aims.

  2. Produce an enticing CV. Plus, a cover letter explaining why you are right for the job

  3. Be prepared for an interview with our useful interview tips.

  4. Most interviews are currently held on Zoom so get prepared in advance. Make sure you test your connection, video and sound beforehand and have a clear, clean background.

  5. Don’t lose the job of your dreams with poor negotiation.

  6. Don’t be over confident even if you are a great vet.

  7. Be quick- the good roles go very quickly, especially in this difficult period.

  8. Understand that many of the best roles are never advertised.
